How it works
How Repair Prices Are Built
Each repair has its own typical price range. The calculator adds up what you tick, applies a minimum service charge for small jobs and adds an emergency surcharge if you need someone now. The table shows the ranges it uses.
| Repair | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Small leak, one spot | $150–$1,000 |
| Leak with water damage to the deck | $1,000–$3,000 |
| Broken or slipped tile | $60–$125 per tile ($200–$500 minimum) |
| Shingle patch | $150–$500 per area |
| Flashing repair | $200–$500 per spot |
| Pipe boot or vent flashing | $200–$500 each |
| Valley repair | $200–$850 per valley |
| Flat roof patch | $200–$500 per patch |
| Foam or coating touch-up | $2–$6 per sq ft |
| Emergency tarp | $1.00–$2.80 per sq ft ($150 minimum) |
| Emergency or after-hours call | +$200–$300 |
| Minimum service call | $150–$300 |
Typical 2026 ranges from published national and Phoenix-area repair pricing. Not a quote. A leak’s source is often not where the stain is, so we find the cause before pricing the fix.
Repair or replace?
When a Repair Stops Making Sense
- Repairs approach a third of a new roofAt that point, put the money toward a new roof or new underlayment instead. Check the number with the roof replacement cost calculator.
- Leaks keep coming backRepeat leaks in different spots usually mean the waterproofing layer has failed across the roof, not in one place.
- Tile roof is 20–25+ years oldTile underlayment in Arizona heat usually wears out at about this age. New underlayment with your existing tile often costs far less than a new tile roof. Tile underlayment replacement
- Foam roof has worn through its coatingExposed foam breaks down in UV. A recoat in time is far cheaper than a new foam roof. Price it with the flat roof & coating calculator.
- Storm damage across the roofWind or hail damage across many slopes may be an insurance claim, not a repair. Wind damage claims in Arizona

Roof Repair Cost Questions
How much does roof repair cost in Arizona?
A minor leak repair usually costs about $150–$1,000. When water has already damaged the deck underneath, expect about $1,000–$3,000. Phoenix-area roofers commonly quote general repairs in the $500–$3,000 range, depending on the roof type and how far the damage has spread.
How much does it cost to replace broken roof tiles?
About $60–$125 per tile when the underlayment beneath is still sound. Small tile repairs usually total $200–$500. If tiles keep slipping or cracking, or water is getting through, the underlayment is often the real problem.
Why does my tile roof leak when the tiles look fine?
Tile sheds most of the water, but the underlayment beneath it is what keeps your home dry. In Arizona heat, tile underlayment usually wears out in about 20–25 years. After that, leaks show up even though the tiles look fine from the ground.
Should I repair or replace my roof?
Repair when the problem is local and the roof is otherwise sound. Get a replacement quote when repairs approach a third of the cost of a new roof, when leaks keep coming back, or when the roof is near the end of its life. For tile roofs, that usually means new underlayment, not new tile. See our roof replacement cost calculator.
How much does an emergency roof tarp cost?
Usually about $1.00–$2.80 per square foot covered. Many jobs land around $450. After-hours or emergency calls can add a surcharge of roughly $200–$300.
Does homeowners insurance pay for roof repairs?
Sudden damage from wind, hail or a fallen branch is often covered. Wear and tear, old underlayment and slow leaks usually are not. Document the damage with photos before anything is repaired. See our roof leak insurance claim guide.
