For an active leak, calling (480) 463-3483 is the fastest way to reach us. Or send this and a local team member will call you back.
A roof emergency rarely waits for business hours. A monsoon microburst lifts tiles at 9 p.m., a branch punctures the roof, or water starts dripping through the ceiling. At Arizona Roofers we answer the phone 24/7, get a licensed roofer out to stop the water, and document the damage so your insurance claim starts on the right foot.
We handle emergency repairs on tile, shingle, flat, foam and metal roofs on homes and commercial buildings across the Phoenix metro, Tucson, Prescott and Flagstaff. We are a licensed Arizona roofing contractor (ROC#356304 and ROC#356639). For non-urgent problems, see our roof repair service.
What to do right now
- Stay safe. Do not climb onto a wet or storm-damaged roof. Keep clear of any ceiling that is sagging with water, and switch off power to rooms where water is near lights or outlets.
- Catch the water. Put buckets and towels under drips, and move furniture, electronics and rugs out of the way.
- Take photos and video. Photograph the damage inside and, from the ground, outside, before anything is cleaned up or moved. Your insurer will want them.
- Call (480) 463-3483. Tell us where the water is coming in and what happened. We prioritize active leaks.
- Be careful with storm chasers. Out-of-town crews knock on doors after big storms. Check any contractor’s license at roc.az.gov. Arizona law (A.R.S. § 32-1158.02) lets you cancel a roofing contract that depends on an insurance claim.
What counts as a roofing emergency
| Situation | Why it can’t wait |
|---|---|
| Active leak | Water soaks insulation, drywall and the roof deck within hours, and wet materials can start growing mold. |
| Missing or slipped tiles or shingles after wind | The underlayment is exposed to the next rain and to direct sun, and loose pieces can blow off and cause more damage. |
| Tree or branch on the roof | Punctures open the roof to the weather and can damage rafters or trusses. |
| Hail damage with cracks or holes | Cracked tile, bruised shingles and punctured foam let water in during the next storm. |
| Ponding or blocked drains on a flat roof | Standing water adds weight and finds its way into seams and cracks. |
| Sagging or soft spots | Usually a sign of a wet or failing deck. Keep people out of the area below. |
Roof leaking right now?
We answer 24/7. Tarping, leak stops and photo documentation for your insurer.
How our emergency service works
- You call, we triage. We take the details, ask where the water is coming in and prioritize active leaks.
- We secure the roof. A roofer tarps the damaged area, makes a temporary seal or clears blocked drains, the same day where possible.
- We document the damage. You get photos and notes of what we found, ready for your insurance claim. We can meet your adjuster on the roof.
- We quote the permanent repair. You get a written scope and price. If the roof is at the end of its life, we show you why with photos and quote a roof replacement instead.
Emergency repairs by roof type
Tile roofs
Wind and hail crack and slide tiles, exposing the underlayment. We reset or replace broken tiles and tarp the area if the underlayment is damaged. Tile roofs need care to tarp without breaking more tiles. See tile roof repair in Phoenix.
Shingle roofs
Blown-off or creased shingles leave nail holes and bare underlayment. We tarp the area, then replace the shingles and seal the edges. See roof shingle repair.
Flat and foam roofs
Punctures, split seams and blocked scuppers cause most flat-roof emergencies. We clear drains, patch the membrane or foam, and seal it until a full repair or recoat. See flat roof repair in Phoenix and Tucson.
Metal roofs
High winds can lift panel edges and pull fasteners. We re-secure panels, replace stripped screws and seal flashings.
What emergency roof repair costs
An emergency tarp typically costs about $1.00–$2.80 per square foot covered, with a minimum of around $150; many tarp jobs land around $450. After-hours or emergency calls can add $200–$300. The permanent repair is priced separately once the roof is dry and we can see the full damage. Get a ballpark for both with the roof repair cost calculator.
Sudden damage from wind, hail or a falling tree is usually covered by homeowners insurance; wear and tear is not. Our guides on wind damage claims and roof insurance claim help explain the process.
Monsoon season roof emergencies
Arizona’s monsoon runs from June 15 to September 30. Microbursts, sideways rain, hail and dust storms cause most of the emergency calls we get. Before the season, clear gutters, scuppers and valleys, replace any cracked tiles and have the roof checked with a free roof inspection. After a big storm, look for tiles or shingles in the yard and new stains on ceilings. See signs of a roof leak.
Emergency roof repair across Arizona
We cover the Valley and beyond, including roof repair in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Glendale, Peoria, Goodyear, Tucson, Prescott. Not on the list? Call anyway: we serve 28 communities across the state.
Emergency roof repair FAQ
Do you offer 24/7 emergency roof repair?
Yes. Our phone line is answered 24/7 at (480) 463-3483. For active leaks and storm damage we send a roofer to tarp and secure the roof, then schedule the permanent repair.
How fast can you get to my house?
We prioritize active leaks and aim to secure the roof the same day where possible. Timing depends on your location, the weather and how many calls come in after a big monsoon storm, so call as early as you can.
How much does an emergency roof tarp cost?
Usually about $1.00–$2.80 per square foot covered, with a minimum charge of around $150. Many tarp jobs land around $450. After-hours or emergency calls can add $200–$300. You can price a repair with our roof repair cost calculator.
Will insurance pay for emergency roof repair?
Homeowners policies usually cover sudden damage from wind, hail or a fallen tree, and many cover reasonable steps to prevent further damage, such as tarping. They usually do not cover wear and tear. Photograph everything and keep your receipts. See roof leak insurance claims in Arizona.
Should I get on the roof myself?
No. Wet tile and shingles are slippery, tile cracks under foot, and monsoon storms bring lightning and sudden gusts. Stay inside, protect your belongings and let a roofer do the work on the roof.
Can you repair a roof in the rain?
We can tarp and make temporary repairs in light rain when it is safe to be on the roof. Permanent repairs wait for dry conditions so sealants, underlayment and coatings bond properly.
